Nov. 1 kicks off the Plan Year 2020 Open Enrollment Period. By now, we hope you’ve had a chance to explore the new website, and if you’re a returning customer, you’ve probably already claimed your account. Still have questions? No worries. We’ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) to make shopping for a qualified health plan through Nevada Health Link as seamless as possible.
What is Nevada Health Link?
Run by the state agency: Silver State Health Insurance Exchange, Nevada Health Link is Nevada’s online health marketplace where eligible Nevadans can shop for, compare and purchase Affordable Care Act-compliant health insurance plans that fit their needs and budget. Check out our video.
I’m a returning Nevada Health Link customer. What do I need to do to get ready for Plan Year 2020 Open Enrollment?
You should have received an email or letter in the mail providing you with a unique access code to go online and claim your existing account that was transferred over to Nevada Health Link from HealthCare.gov. If you’ve already claimed your account, you’re good to go. If you haven’t claimed your account yet, you’ll need to do so before you can enroll in a health insurance plan for 2020 starting Nov. 1. If you deleted the email or are unable to find your access code, please contact the customer assistance service line at 1-800-547-2927.
When can I enroll?
Open Enrollment for plan year 2020 begins Nov. 1 and runs through Dec. 15 which is when you can enroll in coverage. In the meantime, you can visit NevadaHealthLink.com to see all the plan options, compare prices and find free assistance from licensed enrollment professionals in your area who can help answer all of your questions and navigate the enrollment process with you when the time comes to sign up.
There are also Special Enrollment Periods where you may qualify for insurance outside of the open enrollment period. Qualifying Life Events like getting married, having a baby, or unemployment may mean you’re eligible. If you’re eligible based on a qualifying life event, you typically have 60 days following the qualifying life event to enroll in a plan.

- You can compare health insurance plans and prices right now before Open Enrollment begins on Nov. 1, 2019. Just click on the “Start Shopping” button, fill in your household information, birthdate and click “Browse Plans.” To see if you qualify for financial assistance, enter your estimated annual household income and click “Check for Savings.” From there, you’ll see health insurance plan options sorted by cost level which you can then filter to determine the coverage you and your family require.
- You can locate free local assistance from Agents/Brokers and Certified Enrollment Counselors to answer your questions and help you determine the best health insurance plan best suited for you and your family.
