As our state’s premier health insurance resource, Nevada Health Link is constantly striving to make accessing our services easier for all. While going through the enrollment process, some of our enrollees’ top questions are the first two steps to accessing everything we have to offer: logging into and accessing your account. Read on for answers to some of these most frequently asked questions.
Enrollment Assistance
How do I know which health plan I need? How do I know I’m eligible?
Nevada Health Link is your one-stop shop for health, dental and vision plans. You can compare and purchase Qualified Health Plans on our website. By purchasing through Nevada Health Link, you’ll find out what federal tax credits and subsidies you qualify for and/or if you qualify for Medicaid.
Did you know we allow “window shopping” on our site? You can shop for plans from different insurance carriers and estimate your costs before you even enroll with us. Our website is also full of tools and resources to help you pick the right plan for you and your family.
If you still have questions like, ‘are my doctors covered?’ ‘What about my medications?’ ‘What about my specific health issues?’ The next step we recommend is getting free assistance from a Nevada Certified Broker or a Nevada Certified Counselor near you. They can help you go through provider lists and/or other options available to you.
When can I enroll in coverage?
Open Enrollment is the yearly period in which people can shop for and enroll in health insurance, beginning November 1 and ending January 15.
If you missed the Open Enrollment period, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). SEPs allow you to enroll in coverage at any time during the year if you’ve experienced certain life changes. These could include loss of coverage, or changes in household size, location, income, immigration status, and more. Click here for a full list of Qualifying Life Events (QLE).
How do I apply for health insurance or Medicaid in Nevada?
Good news: you’re in the right place! Visit our enrollment page to get started, where you’ll provide us with your income and household details. You’ll also be pre-screened for eligibility by answering a few questions. At this stage, you’ll find out what level of coverage you and your family qualify for, or if you’re potentially eligible for Medicaid. If you are, you’ll be directed to a Medicaid application to complete and submit.
If you have additional questions as you go through the application, feel free to contact our call center at 1-800-547-2927. For more information about enrollment, read our blog on How to Enroll at Nevada Health Link.
