Nevada Health Link is the only place where nearly 90 percent of Nevadans are saving on health insurance – Here’s how

Oct 14, 2022

More than 101,000 Nevadans secured health insurance during a record-breaking Open Enrollment Period last year. This month, new plan options and rates are now available from Nevada Health Link. Take time this month to review so that you are ready for November 1, which is the start of the 2023 Open Enrollment Period!

This year, 37 new health insurance plans have been added, for a total of 163 Qualified Health Plans available through Nevada Health Link across seven private insurance carriers (number of available plans vary by county). This means anyone who does not have insurance or who needs to reevaluate their plan will have a variety of affordable coverage options to best fit their needs. And, every single Nevada Health Link plan provides all ten essential health benefits, ensuring that you are able to access the care and support you need.

The recent passage of the Inflation Reduction Act expanded Advanced Premium Tax Credits for three more years, giving Nevadans more money back in their pockets. Nevadans making over 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) may now qualify to receive these enhanced subsidies, whereas before the Inflation Reduction Act, they may not have.

More than anything, Nevada Health Link supports our customers with financial assistance by helping them budget for the best preventive health care that works for them.

At Nevada Health Link, nearly 9 out of 10 Nevadans who purchase a plan are eligible to receive financial assistance, with almost half of all enrollees paying a net premium of $100 or less for their monthly plan. Currently, the average premium is $164, according to enrollment data gathered by Nevada Health Link.

There are two different ways to see if you’re eligible for subsidies or to start the enrollment process:

  • Anonymously Window Shop: Fill out a few questions about your income and your household make-up on our online form. This will enable Nevada Health Link to direct you to the appropriate plan, based on individual budget and needs.
  • If you are currently enrolled in a plan through Nevada Health Link, log in at NevadaHealthLink.com or connect with one of our representatives from our enrollment assistance directory.

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you may qualify for subsidies that will help offset your monthly premium, paid directly to your insurance carrier.

Special Enrollment Periods (SEP) allow for health insurance coverage enrollment any time during the year. Here are other opportunities for Nevadans experiencing special circumstances:

Options for those who lost or were denied Medicaid

Nevada Health Link offers ideal health insurance plans with low monthly premiums for Nevadans who don’t qualify for Medicare or Medicaid benefits. 80% of uninsured adults in Nevada are under the age of 64 and report that their incomes are likely to qualify for a premium subsidy at Nevada Health Link (2019 census data by Marketing for Change).

Special Enrollment Periods for Qualifying Life Changes

Life continues to happen outside the Open Enrollment Period (November 1 – January 15). It is important for Nevadans to keep track of the changes in their life — such as moving, getting married, or starting a new job — to ensure they enroll in the most budget-friendly plan.
Special Enrollment Periods (SEP) allow for health insurance enrollment at any time during the year for Nevadans experiencing qualifying life events.

Nevada Health Link provides a number of options to help with the enrollment process, including free over-the-phone or in-person assistance with a licensed broker or navigator.

Assistance is available in multiple languages with an agent/broker by calling the customer service line at 1-800-547-2927.

Those who enroll by:
